The silhouette is simple. The surface is not. We sculpt the board by hand, following the grain and drawing away the softer fibres until the harder structure stands proud. The surface rises and falls beneath the hand: grain, relief, landscape. The saddle gives it purpose. The wood gives it character. No two boards respond the same way, so no two stools are alike. Sculpted to fit the human anatomy.Carved from solid oak, this bench / stool is shaped according to the grain of the board rather than against it. The softer fibres are worked away by hand, leaving the harder wood standing proud. What looks like texture from a distance becomes something else up close: ridges, hollows, grain and shadow moving across the surface. The form is quiet. The wood is not.Every board behaves differently, so every piece carries its own landscape.Sculpted Oak Bench/Stool - Revealed GrainMaterial: solid oak Surface: hand-sculpted, revealed grain Use: bench / stool Production: approximately 2 weeksLook with your fingertips. 300.00 EUR https://www.aring.studio/product/massive-oak-revealed-grain-bench https://assets.bigcartel.com/product_images/432184866/Gemini_Generated_Image_35qbdl35qbdl35qb.jpeg https://assets.bigcartel.com/product_images/432184863/a82bfd24-5787-4087-9547-7919d2566d4e.jpeg,https://assets.bigcartel.com/product_images/432184875/Gemini_Generated_Image_xq0x7rxq0x7rxq0x.jpeg,https://assets.bigcartel.com/product_images/432184926/Gemini_Generated_Image_icl5kicl5kicl5ki.jpeg 121423263 new in stock 121267494 Troll nose, sold Sold. A piece of oak that looks as though the weather found it first. It took its form from the branch itself. We did not correct the silhouette; we built the seat around it. Grey, brown and weathered tones gather across the hand-worked surface. A seat with the presence of a small sculpture. The timber decided too much for this to be repeated.
